The Basics DVD (free shipping)

Unique video-based training on all the basic skills needed to be a great goalkeeper. Takes the proven Just4Keepers training system and boils it down into a condensed one hour and twenty six minutes.  Covering all the basic skills from starting position to diving for the top corner, with everything in-between.
Over 1 hour 26 minutes of training from Just4Keepers, including:

Starting Position
Get off to the right start - this is often taught wrongly!! Use your natural height and body weight to gain a  psychological advantage over an approaching striker.

Basic Catch
A basic but critical technique, into the chest and face - get it right both to make saves look easy. The decision making on this is where most keepers go wrong, if you work on this, you'll make a lot more simple saves.

K-Barrier Scoop
Use this technique to safely gather an incoming ball. Although basic, many keepers get the leg coordination wrong.

Double-Legged Pickup
Ideal for a team that likes to break fast, this technique allows a keeper to gather the ball quickly and immediately distribute it for a potential attack.

Distribution - Underarm
So simple, even professionals get this wrong because they don't practice or concentrate when using it. Many keepers don't get the power they should by making a common error.

Distribution - Overarm
Get more distance and accuracy with the correct technique. Make the most of your body weight and use the inertia.

Sidestepping Across The Goal
Getting this wrong costs keepers many many goals, and is easily avoided. Use the 'pole through the ears' method to keep you on the right track!

Getting Chipped
Getting chipped by an easy lob is a Keeper's nightmare - here's how to avoid it. Get the footwork right and don't go straight backwards. A deceptively difficult technique to master.

Punching
Learn punching the easy way, concentrating on one step as a time. Make sure that you hold your hands correctly to avoid injury.

Footwork
In a crowded box game situation, a keeper often has to move through the crowd with hands up - good footwork and balance really helps.

Diving (Rocking Motion)
Arguably one of the most important techniques a keeper needs to master, this helps you dive safely, get up fast and eliminate a weak side. Here is a great series of 4 (four) videos fully explaining how to progress through the rocking motions from ground to top corner.

Working Angles In The Goal
It's natural to stay along the goal-line, even when the shots are coming in at a narrow angle. Get it right with this simple and easy to practice technique.

Advancing
A very valuable technique, if you get this right, the amount of shots that you will save will greatly increase. Use it to 'steal a yard' from oncoming strikers.

Punching: Advanced
Here's when to use a single punch and when to use a double punch. Also how to use the best angle of punch for an incoming ball, don't fight the ball, work with it.

Crosses Under Pressure
A progression from the basic cross, this exercise simulates a real-life situation, and is even better with a group of keepers being trained.

First Touch
In recent years goalkeeping has changed, in many ways now a goalkeeper is a defender with hands! A keeper should be as good with their feet as the other players, and if you can’t pinpoint your passes you will struggle at times. This video shows how you can work on your footwork ball skills.

Agility Exercises
Use these exercises as a warm-up before any game – being warmed up correctly goes a long way to avoid injury. 17 (seventeen) exercises work on coordination to keep you supple, and can be done alone or with a partner at home in your back yard or garden.

One-On-One: Edging
Learn how to tackle a one-on-one situation. This is a very valuable technique – edging or narrowing the angle gives you the advantage over an approaching striker.

Pouncing At Striker's Feet
This is a quality technique – pouncing or grabbing the ball at a striker’s feet. How to come off best ninety-nine times out of a hundred.

Working The Arc
If there's one way to save more shots, this is it. This is a very, very important technique also known as working the angle. Using this, you will make your life easier, the goal smaller and a striker’s life much more difficult.

Changing Direction While Advancing
This is a more advanced exercise for experienced keepers, and puts together multiple techniques – sidestepping, changing directions, rocking motion and working angles as well.

Sidestepping While Advancing
This is a more advanced exercise for experienced keepers, and covers sidestepping across the goal on an angle, and then advancing towards a shot. Again puts together multiple techniques for game situations and fitness.

Dealing With Players In-Front
Another valuable technique – how to deal with players in-front of you in a crowded box. Of course if it’s a center back or defender, you just tell them to move! But if it’s a striker, they are not going to move away, so here’s what to do.

Reaction And Strength
Here’s a series of drills, putting goalkeepers in awkward positions, working their reaction and strength. There are times when a keeper might slip or get pushed, and they need to come up really fast, here's how to work on this.

The Sweep
How do you handle a ball coming along the ground at a hundred miles an hour? With The Sweep - an advanced technique for experienced keepers only.

Reaction Saves
As part of Elite Keeper training for making quick reaction saves, we’ll be working on four techniques – distribution, back-pass, rocking motion saves and reaction saves. We’ll be using two keepers and a server.

Fast Recoveries
The difference between quality keepers and ordinary keepers is when they start moving around the goal. Here is training for advanced keepers in awkward positions so they make fast recoveries into the right position.

Sidestepping And Take-Off
Here we train our advanced keepers in stamina, sidestepping and taking-off for a big save, starting small and ending up in the top corners. Note this is not for younger keepers due to risk of injury.
